Committee Updates

2027 Guild Officers

***IMPORTANT NEWS***

The president, vice president, and secretary positions will be open for 2027 guild officers.

Please consider taking one of these positions if you’re interested in helping support the guild. The jobs take varying amounts of time commitments. See Alison (president), Bonnie (VP), or Debbie (secretary) if you want more information on what each of these jobs entails.

Elections will be held in November.

Challenges: The wonky log cabin challenge is extended another month. Bring your blocks to the October meeting.

In addition, we have the ongoing Mysterious Creative Journey challenge. See the Challenges page for more information on both.

QuiltFest: QuiltFest is THIS WEEK! It’s not too late to sign up for volunteering – as the saying goes, many hands make light work.

If you volunteer for QuiltFest, you get in free that day. Note that volunteering for our guild table does not give you free admission to QuiltFest.

Education:

Sign up is now open for both members and non members for the October 3 Orbital class. Let your friends know there’s availability if they want to attend. See the class detail page to sign up.

The 2028 class options were on display for voting. Everyone was able to choose their top five. See Facebook for more detail on the classes.

If you missed the meeting, no worries. The education committee will be sending a link to an electronic survey for you to make your choices.

QuiltCon Community Quilt

Robbie displayed our community quilt titled “Stepping Stones” for QuiltCon.

Airing of the Quilts: Clay county is once again hosting the airing of the quilts at Camp Chowenwaw on October 10. Contact Malan McCracken at Malan.Mccracken@claycountygov.com if you are interested in participating. This event is open to all.

Sew & Tell

As usual, so many of great items shared this month!

September Program

Do you have boxes of old photographs in storage? Home movies on VHS or film? Mixed tapes on cassette or favorite vinyl records? Have you ever wanted to convert them to a digital format that you can easily store in the Cloud or share online with family? Now you can—for free at the Jacksonville Public Library! (Free for Duval county residents. Those from other counties can use it for a fee.)

The September program was a presentation by Claire from the Jacksonville Public Library’s Memory Lab. She let us know about what the lab offers. This service seems like it could be a valuable asset to allow us to preserve our memories – whether they’re of quilts or other items.

Check out their website here for more information.
