INTRODUCTION TO CURVED PIECING

ZOOM workshop October 3, 2026!

Orbital is the ultimate modern, curved piecing quilt pattern. Curves on curves within curves! This bold quilt design is built with surprisingly simple instructions. Learn to make this bold, modern quilt in your choice of project size, from mini to king. You will learn:

• How to fine tune your 1/4″ seam allowance.
• How to set up your sewing machine for curved piecing.
• How to cut curves using templates and rulers.
• How to mark, pin, and glue baste curved pieces.
• How to work with small curves.
• How to assemble the Orbital quilt.

Class will also include a discussion on fabric preparation to avoid distortion on the bias, favorite tools, and supplies to set you up for success.

Workshop Date and Time: Saturday, October 3. The workshop is from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Workshop Location: This workshop is on Zoom. The link will be emailed prior to class to the class participants.

Class Size: 24 participants

Payment Details: We are using Zeffy for payments. Click here for a document that describes how to use Zeffy. Note that Zeffy earns its money through fees on purchases. You can choose to pay the fee, change the fee to an amount of your choosing, or you can zero it out. Steps 4 and 5 in the linked document show how to do this.

IMPORTANT NOTE: These fees go to Zeffy. If you accidentally pay them, Zeffy’s policy is to not issue a refund of the fees; JAXMQG has no control over them. The guild will NOT refund donations accidentally made to Zeffy. 

Cost: The cost is $25 for members and $38 for non-members.

Key Dates, Cancellation and Waitlist policies:
August 22: JAXMQG member registration opens online at 10:00 a.m.
August 29: JAXMQG nonmember registration opens online.
September 19: Cancellations made after this date will be refunded ONLY if the spot is filled.

Waitlist: If the workshop sells out a waitlist will be created for members that request a spot if a paid member cancels.
