We had a small group in May, but the meeting was great!
Meeting Winners! I won the 50/50 drawing (never thought that would happen), Barb won the door prize, and Candi won the May challenge blocks. We all went home happy!
Committee Updates
Programs: Thanks to everyone who had a table at the vendor market last month. It seemed to be a success.
HABC Quilt Display: Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church (where we meet) has rotating artist displays. They would like to display quilts from our guild for a 3-month period starting August 1. (Note that if your quilt is displayed at the church it will not be available for QuiltFest.) Those with quilts displayed can attend an opening reception on July 31. Details are as follows:
- The quilt can be no taller than 80″
- Include a label with your name on the back of the quilt
- You can sell your quilt if you want. Make sure to send pricing information to Margaret.
- Selected quilts are due at the June meeting. Bring your quilt in a bag with your name on it.
If you’re interested in showing a quilt, email Margaret D. with the following information, and she will let you know if your quilt is selected for the display:
- Picture of the quilt
- Quilt name
- Price, if you want to sell it
Challenges: A new 2-month challenge was announced this month to make red, white, and blue blocks. These blocks will be used to make donation quilts for a veteran’s organization. We will have sit and sews after the June and July meetings if you want to work on any blocks then.
In addition, we have the ongoing Mysterious Creative Journey challenge. See the Challenges page for more information on both.
Community Outreach: Please continue to make hearts for hospice. You can find directions on the Community Outreach page. Note that the hearts can be simple; they don’t have to be fancy like the ones in the photo on that page.
Education: The David Owen Hastings class was great and everyone seemed to enjoy it! There are no more classes until the fall. However, we do have sit and sews throughout the year. See the calendar for dates. Also, you can see a high-level overview of the classes for 2027 on the Classes Coming This Year page.
QuiltFest: Registration is now open to enter your quilts in QuiltFest. It’s time to start thinking about what we’re going to finish in the next few months to enter.
For only $5 you can be a Friend of QuiltFest and have a short message in the program. Because of money raised previously, we we able to have free parking at QuiltFest. You can think of your donation as a discounted parking pass. Contact Candi if you would like to help out.
June Party: Next month is our summer party! Here’s some important information about it:
- The theme is a patriotic summer picnic to celebrate USA’s 250th birthday! Wear red, white, and/or blue!
- Bring three $1 bills if you want to play Left, Right, Center. If you’ve never played before, don’t worry – it’s quite easy to learn.
- Bring your RWB challenge blocks. For every block you bring, your name will be entered into a drawing for prizes.
- While the guild will provide some food, if you have a favorite picnic dish, bring it with you to share. If you bring a dish, please write out the recipe to post next to the dish. This way other members who like it can get a picture of it and be able to enjoy it again.
Calendar of Events Taking Place in the Next Few Weeks

Sew & Tell
Another month with some great finishes shared!

May Program
We had an inspiring program by local quilt artist Nikki Hill. If you’ve been to QuiltFest, you might have seen her work. She talked about her evolution of making quilts, many of which are challenge entries, and shared many quilts with us. Take a look at some of her work below.
