JAXMQG June Meeting Recap

June was party time!

50/50 Winner! Lynne won the 50/50 drawing. Congrats!

Committee Updates

Challenges: Several red, white, and blue blocks that will be used to make donation quilts for a veteran’s organization were turned in at the June meeting. Thank you! You can still bring ones to the July meeting. We will have a sit and sew after the July meeting if you want to work on any blocks then.

In addition, we have the ongoing Mysterious Creative Journey challenge. See the Challenges page for more information on both.

QuiltCon Community Outreach Quilt: Robbie handed out block kits for the Quiltcon community outreach quilt project. For those who picked up kits on Sunday:

  • Each kit makes 2 Half Square Triangles (HSTs).
  • Press to the eggplant side. Your other fabric is gold, periwinkle blue, green or pink.
  • Do not trim your finished blocks
  • Put the finished block back in the bag and return it at the July or August meeting. You can also give it to Robbie, Joan D. or Julia C. at the Statler retreat, Marywood retreat, or at a guild sit and sew in July or August. If you cannot return it in person, you can mail it to Robbie. You can look up her address on the JaxMQG.com website member directory.
  • If you decide not to make the blocks, please return your kit.
  • If you lose your kit, please let Robbie know.
  • If you did not get a kit Sunday, we will be handing them out at the July meeting. If we have any left, we’ll be recruiting help at the Marywood retreat to finish up the blocks.

QuiltFest: Registration is now open to enter your quilts in QuiltFest. It’s time to start thinking about what we’re going to finish in the next few months to enter.

QF board member Stacey spoke to the group about the QF volunteer opportunities. Sign-up for spots opens July 1.

Janelle sold raffle tickets for the QF opportunity quilt. These will be available in person through the last day of QF. You can also buy them online through Zeffy.

Lisa sold Friends of QF tag lines. We will be doing this at July meeting also! For only $5 you can be a Friend of QuiltFest and have a short message in the program. Because of money raised previously, we we able to have free parking at QuiltFest. You can think of your donation as a discounted parking pass.

Lisa also took pre orders for advance QF tickets. You will be able to buy tickets and tag lines at the July meeting as well.

What fun at the party! Here are some pictures of the fun.

Rather than one door prize winner, we had several party prize winners – Anne, Jan, Adele, Leslee and LaWanda were the lucky winners! Those who were at the meeting are pictured below. And we had several happy winners of the LRC games!
