MODERN QUILT DESIGN, INSPIRED BY CLASSIC ART
ZOOM workshop May 16, 2026!
Member sign ups start Saturday, April 18.
Starting with a favorite work of art, develop your own unique modern quilt design. Be inspired by shapes, colors, structure, or the feeling you get and design a block or whole quilt with an eye on modern minimalism.
Bring your own photo of a work of art, and we will explore the many ways you can take inspiration from it to develop your own quilt block or full quilt design. We will break down the image to its most basic elements, create a rough drawing, then start building a test block using improv techniques. David will demonstrate sewing curves without pins, and without fear. A PDF materials and supplies list will be emailed in advance.

Workshop Date and Time: Saturday, May 16. The workshop is from noon until 6 p.m.
Workshop Location: This workshop is on Zoom. The link will be emailed prior to class to the class participants.
Class Size: 24 participants
Payment Details: We are using Zeffy for payments. Click here for a document that describes how to use Zeffy. Note that Zeffy earns its money through fees on purchases. You can choose to pay the fee, change the fee to an amount of your choosing, or you can zero it out. Steps 4 and 5 in the linked document show how to do this.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These fees go to Zeffy. If you accidentally pay them, Zeffy’s policy is to not issue a refund of the fees; JAXMQG has no control over them. The guild will NOT refund donations accidentally made to Zeffy.
Cost: The cost is $50 for members and $65 for non-members.

Key Dates, Cancellation and Waitlist policies:
April 18: JAXMQG member registration opens online at 10:00 a.m.
April 25: JAXMQG nonmember registration opens online.
May 2: Cancellations made after this date will be refunded ONLY if the spot is filled.
Waitlist: If the workshop sells out a waitlist will be created for members that request a spot if a paid member cancels.
