JAXMQG March Meeting Recap

Our March meeting had a green feel with snacks and blocks celebrating St. Patrick’s day and the springtime weather.

Meeting Winners! Congratulations Maryann, Donna, and Bonnie! You were the lucky winners this month.

Committee Updates

Quilter’s Maker Market: Sign ups happened for the Quilter’s Maker Market happing after the April meeting. 12 people had signed up to have tables selling homemade and/or quilt related items. We’re looking forward to seeing what they bring next month. Tell your friends to come and see what deals they can find!

Sit and Sews: The sit and sew committee has scheduled several times to meet over the next few months. Some during the week and some on the weekend. The recent ones have been well attended with the members enjoying camaraderie while they sew. All dates and times for scheduled sit and sews (both in-person and virtual) are on the calendar and as events in the Facebook member group.

Challenge: The next challenge is to make block in block squares. See the Challenges page for more information.

Education:

  • Brigit Dermott Class: Registration for the upcoming Playing with Shapes class by Brigit Dermott is open to members and will open to non-members starting Saturday, March 21. You can find information about the class and the sign up here.
  • David Owen Hastings Class: Registration for the upcoming Inspired by Art class by David Owen Hastings will open Saturday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. You can find some basic information on the Workshops page. More details will be coming before registration opens.
  • Education Survey: The Education Planning Committee is gathering interest in classes for 2028 (yes, they have to work that far ahead to secure teachers). If you have not yet completed the survey, you can access it here.

Community Outreach: Hospice has indicated a need for lap quilts, red/white/blue lap quilts, bibs, and fidget quilts. If you want to make a bib, it was suggested that you make long ones, even using kitchen towels. You can find plenty of patterns online if you need help with how to make one.

Snacks: Aren’t the snacks at the meetings a nice touch? If everyone signs up for just one spot, we can have these tasty treats at every meeting! Please sign up here to bring something.

Sew & Tell

Another month with some inspiring items shared!

March Program

We got to hear from some people who went to Quilt Con and the AQS show in Daytona. They shared their experiences and made all of us want to go to the shows next year (which will be on different weekends – Yay!) Candi put together a video (with fitting music) that we got to see. If you’re a member of the Jax MQG Members Only Facebook page you can click the image below to see it there.
