JAXMQG January Meeting Recap

Welcome to 2026! 55 people braved the cold, wet day and to join together. We welcomed one one visitor and one new member.

Meeting Winners! Congratulations Sharon and Bonnie! You’re going home with some great prizes! And Nelda won the challenge blocks.

Committee Updates

Committee Sign Ups: The link for sign ups for 2026 committees was circulated again. If you missed the sheet and want to help out with a committee, send an email to jaxmqg@gmail.com.

Programs: The program committee asked us to submit ideas for meeting programs. If you have additional ideas, send an email to jaxmqg@gmail.com and we’ll make sure it gets to the programs committee members.

Sunshine: Gale is looking for the stack of cards. If you have them, let her know.

UFOs: The 2026 UFO challenge kicked off. In this challenge, you complete a form with up to 10 UFOs you want to finish this year and turn it in to Kim. During the year, show your completed UFOs at meetings (or send a picture if you’re not able to make it to a meeting). For each UFO you complete, your name is entered into a drawing for a prize at the December party. You can add UFOs to the form, submit more than one form (for $10 each), or change UFOs as needed. You can join at any time during the year. Download the form here if you want to join and finish off some of those UFOs in 2026.

Sit and Sews: The sit and sew committee has schedule several times to meet this first quarter. Some during the week and some on the weekend. All dates and times are on the calendar and as events in the Facebook member group.

Challenge: The next challenge is a heart block. See the Challenges page for more information.

Marywood Retreat: The retreat is sold out (took less than 20 minutes!). If you want to attend, get your name on the wait list by sending an email to jaxmqg@gmail.com.

Timna Tarr Class: Registration for the upcoming Mosaic Daisy class by Timna Tarr will open Saturday, February 7 at 10:00 a.m. You can find some basic information on the Workshops page. More details will be coming before registration opens.

Financial Report: Robbie will give the financial report at the February meeting due to technical issues at this one. (We do have a nice new stand for a laptop and projector though! No more stacking items up to get to the right height.)

2026 Jax MQG Membership : If you haven’t renewed your JAXMQG membership, you need to do so by February to remain an active member.

Sew & Tell

We had a great sew and tell with members sharing their completions. Note that you can bring in a previously completed project if you want to share it with the guild.

January Program

Lisa provided materials and directions to make slow stitched postcards, like what we did with the recent programs at the Cummer Museum. Take a look at the fun they’re having and some of what they made!
