Committee Updates

Community Outreach: The committee has settled on two charities we’re supporting this year: Hospice and Family Support Services. See the Community Outreach page for more details.

St. Johns County Schools Project: The guild is partnering with a special needs class for young adults and a group of residents at a senior center to create a simple quilt. This will be on display at the senior center following its completion. The project will be done on either a Monday or Friday in late April or early June – depending on our volunteers’ availability.

Volunteers are needed to help with this project.
Send an email to jaxmqg@gmail.com if you can help.

Challenges: No new challenges this month. There are two ongoing challenges – the recycled bags block and the scrap bag challenge. The recycled bags block is due at the April meeting and the scrap bag is due in May. More details on each of these is on the Challenges webpage.

Clay County Library Project: We saw a few quilts for this project at the March meeting. All completed quilts are due at the April meeting. Please add a Jax MQG label to the back of each quilt. If you need a label, we’ll have some at the April meeting. Bring a needle and thread to sew it onto the back.

QuiltFest Guild Quilt: Blocks were due back at the March meeting. If you still have not completed your block, contact Candi L. or Laura B. to arrange for a time to return your block. The committee needs them before April 5th.

Snack Table: Thanks to those who signed up for bringing snacks. We had a yummy selection this month! If you liked the snack mix, Gale shared the link to the recipe: https://www.realfoodwithjessica.com/party-snack-mix/. If you want to contribute snacks for a future meeting, see the sign up sheet on the snack table at each meeting.
