There’s a lot going on right now in the guild. Here’s a high-level recap of action items detailed in the post below:

We had 63 members and 8 guests at the JAXMQG February meeting! We are happy to welcome three new members: Shaquitta L., Jackie M., and Natasha B.!
Meeting Winners! Deb won the 50/50 drawing and Barbara won the door prize.
Lisa H. is the lucky winner for the quilt we raffled off to raise money for the California wildfires. We raised over $1300 for that quilt!

Newsletter: The newsletter committee is aiming to get it out around the first of each month, to give an update about midway between guild meetings.
Past President’s Quilt: The guild presented Sarah S. with a quilt to thank her for being the 2024 guild president.
2025 Membership Renewals: About 100 members have renewed their membership. If you still need to renew, here is link to the online membership : https://jaxmqg.com/membership/. If you have any questions contact Robbie K.
Committees: Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to be on a committee! Emails have been sent to committees about getting activity and scheduling information. If you have questions or want to sign up for a committee, send an email to jaxmqg@gmail.com.
Comunity Outreach: Last year our guild donated 649 sewn items to various charities! What an accomplishment!!! This year we’re off to a good start with members donating 42 quilts so far.
The committee is planning on continuing to support two charities from last year – Hospice and Quigley House. They are also looking into other organizations so we have locations for a variety of quilt sizes.
If anyone who longarm quilts would be willing to donate time to quilt completed tops, let the committee know. You can send an email to jaxmqg@gmail.com.
Challenges: Brenda H. won the February challenge low volume blocks. These are going to make a beautiful quilt.

QuiltFest Guild Quilt: Our QuiltFest committee has designed our quilt to be raffled off at the show. Members are asked to use one of the assembled kits to create a block with stripes. Directions are in the kit materials. These are due back at the MARCH meeting.
Cummer Museum Program: On April 8, Jax MQG will be hosting a make and take workshop to create a desert landscape. Sarah S. and Christina F. will be leading the program. This program is open to the public. More information can be found on the Cummer Museum Website.
Sarah and Christina have offered to help guild members make these landscapes at the March sit and sew at the Fleming Island Library. If you wish to participate, bring your own fabric.
Library Project: Leslie B. asked that people who are making a quilt for the Clay County library kids’ summer reading program add a Jax MQG label to the back of each quilt. See Leslie if you need a label.

June No Frills Retreat: The June No Frills retreat will be from June 5-8 at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Orange Park. This retreat has no catered meals, no games, and no planned group projects. It is an opportunity to sit and sew for four days with your friends. The cost for Jax MQG members will be $140 and $170 for nonmembers. Registration for members will open March 29 and May 1 for nonmembers (pending availability). If you want to book a room at the hotel, use code MODS for a discounted rate. Contact the hotel directly to book your room.
Snack Table: With the guild growing, there is a need for more snacks at our meetings. The Hospitality committee is asking for volunteers to sign up to bring snacks to the meetings. By having more people involved, it spreads out the amount that any one person is responsible for.
Donation Quilt for the Church: The church where we meet has asked for a quilt replicating the design in one of their stained glass windows for them to raffle off to raise funds. Franci S. is heading up a group for this effort. She needs nine people to help. Contact Franci if you would like to be involved.
February Show & Tell! We had a wonderful show & tell and as always the highlight of our meetings! Thanks to Laura B. for organizing the show!
February Program: Thanks to Candi L. for an informative lecture about what makes a modern quilt. We then had members share quilts they brought and discussed what made them modern using MQG’s guidelines. See what our members shared below.
