Show Stopper Quilts at the August Meeting- Recap

JAXMQG continues to grow by leaps and bounds! We had 26 members present at the August meeting, along with four visitors. By the end of the meeting, two visitors became members. Welcome to our guild Susan O. and Diane S.! We are happy you joined us, and JAXMG is sitting pretty with 59 members. Debbie and Jennifer, we were happy you visited with us and hope to see you again soon!

Maybe I am biased, but I truly think that our guild hosts the most wonderful show and tell! Just look at these beauties!

A few key notes from the meeting:

-JAXMQG will be donating a basket for QuiltFest raffle, and will have a special exhibition booth! Make sure to come visit the show September 15-17, from 9 to 5, at Prime Osborne Convention Center. See the quilts, shop the vendors and stop by to say hi! And don’t forget to bid on the amazing baskets (ours is great :)) Members, if you are interested in volunteering at our booth or displaying a quilt there, contact us!

-Our QuiltCon Community Challenge quilt is well on its way to be finished! Kim did an amazing job quilting it and Sylvia took it to finish the binding. Photos will follow later! But it is a stunner!

-The education survey emailed to members was answered by 38 members, and survey says (ha!) that our top three winners were workshops by Carolina Oneto, Tara Faughnnan and Cindy Grisdela. The education committee is well on its way to booking great workshops for 2023, as soon as contracts are signed, dates and details will be revealed. Get excited and stay tuned!

-Sara D won the block lottery for the night sky stars! We look forward to seeing them put together!

September meeting block lottery challenge was announced by Laura, and it’s all about using selvedges! Really! The block has to measure 12.5” unfinished. It can be any design, any technique, any colors as long as it includes at least one selvedge! It can be all selvedges too if that’s what you want to make!

During the meeting, Paula F., Kim and Robbie gave us a wonderful demo for using the Stripology rulers. Thank you ladies!

The door prize was donated by Lisa H. and won by Christina F. A fun note to say that since Lisa missed the meeting, Christina was the one to bring the door prize to the meeting, and it ended up going back home with her! What fun!
