July Meeting Highlights

Our July meeting was held on Saturday, July 23 at the South Mandarin Library branch.

At the meeting our Program Committee provided treats for all and celebrated members with June birthdays.  You can review the minutes here.

During the meeting, members discussed sew-ins that are going on and the #QuiltsforPulse effort being started by the Orlando MQG. Everyone has been working hard sewing blocks/quilts and organizing sew-ins for this effort. Make sure you watch our blog and members Facebook page for times and places where there are sew-ins going on. Stay tuned to our blog for times and places on those also.

We then had State of the Guild discussion where members had an open and frank discussion about the purpose of the guild, what is expected of each of us, what we each are looking for and ways we can work together to form a successful modern quilt guild. The consensus was that there is a need for more communication and everyone needs to try and be more proactive.

At the end of the business meeting we had show and tell:

Members who completed their Paint Chip Challenge:

Ruth showed her quilt for Kathy’s daughter and the table runner she made for her sister.

Laurie showed her sofa quilt, throw quilt and tuffet in progress.

Adele showed her finished quilt that she used the glue basting technique.

And Mary Ann showed her quilt she made for Quilts for Pulse.

That’s it for now. Stay tuned for more info.

Next business meeting is to be determined for August.
