Our June meeting was held on Saturday, June 25 at the South Mandarin Library branch.
At the meeting our Program Committee provided treats for all and celebrated members with June birthdays. You can review the minutes here.
We had a new member join during the meeting. Her name is Maureen and she comes all the way from Georgia. She has many years of experience quilting and is looking forward to meeting modern quilters like herself. Welcome Maureen!
During the meeting, members discussed sew-ins that are going on and the #QuiltsforPulse effort being started by the Orlando MQG. Our member, Jen, has been working hard sewing blocks/quilts and organizing sew-ins for this effort. Make sure you watch our blog and members Facebook page for times and places where there are sew-ins going on. Other members, including Robin and Yvonne are hosting events throughout Jacksonville during the month of July. Stay tuned to our blog for times and places on those also.
We then had our Pin Cushion/Thread Catcher swap. Whoever brought in a pin cushion was able to choose a pin cushion as their name was drawn.
At the end of the business meeting we had show and tell:
Ruth showed her chevron quilt and the heart quilt she will be donating to #QuiltsforPulse.
And Joan brought some beautiful quilts she had been working on.
That’s it for now. Stay tuned for more info.
Next business meeting is Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the South Mandarin Library branch. Hope to see you all there!
