We are excited about the coming months as we head toward the final stages of becoming the official Jacksonville branch of the Modern Quilt Guild!  We will be discussing several items of importance at this month’s meeting.  In order for everyone to come prepared to discuss, below is an agenda for our meeting:

Bylaws:  We will be reviewing and voting on the Bylaws at this Saturday’s meeting.  Draft Bylaws are available for review on our website under the Bylaws tab.  Please take a few minutes to read them prior to the meeting.

Officers:  We will be accepting nominations and voting on our Executive Board at our April 19th meeting.  A list of each Officer’s duties can be found in the Bylaws.  If you are interested in nominating yourself or someone else for a position, you may make your nominations at the meeting or you may email (jaxmqg@gmail.com) your nomination.   Emailed nominations will be accepted until 5:00 p.m., April 18, 2014.  If you wish to vote by proxy, you must submit your request via email naming the person who will vote on your behalf no later than 5:00 p.m. April 18, 2014.  If we do not receive your request timely, your proxy vote will not count.

To date, we have the following nominations:
President – Robin McCallister
Vice President – Angela Williams
Treasurer – Yvonne Wecker
Secretary – Open [No nominations to date]

Dues:   The time has now come that we must begin charging yearly dues for membership, which in large part be used towards our MQG application process.  Dues will $35 for adult members and $25 for junior members.  The last day for collecting dues will be on our June meeting date.  We will not have prorated dues this year, as this will be our initial application year.  Prorated dues will become effective in the 2015 fiscal year.

Venue Change:  Many have expressed an interest in changing our meeting day and/or location to accommodate everyone’s schedule.  Please come prepared to discuss.  We’d also like your input on scheduling sew-in days.

Future Events:  We have several exciting programs, events and challenges we are planning in the near future.  If you have any ideas that you would like to have included in one of our future programs, please let us know.

Our meeting will be Saturday, April 19th beginning at 10:30 am at Country Crossroads.
