Committee Updates
Marywood Retreat: By all accounts, the Marywood retreat was an out of this world success. Those who participated in the retreat exchange shared their quilts at the meeting.

Challenge: Our July challenge was to interpret the phrase, “The journey of 1000 miles starts with a single step.” The quilts made by those who participated were fabulous.

And one challenge came with it’s own dance!
August’s challenge is a 2-color log cabin block with bold stepped corners and a playful twist! More details are on the Challenges webpage.
QuiltFest Guild Quilt: The Jacksonville Modern Quilt Guild is happy to share that our opportunity quilt that will be raffled at QuiltFest Jacksonville 2025 (September 18-20, 2025 at the Prime Osborn Convention Center) will benefit The Alzheimer’s Association. The quilt was designed and made by members of the guild, and is titled Tiger Tiger. You can purchase your tickets online or in person at one of the meetings or during QuiltFest. The drawing for the winner will take place on September 20th around 3 PM and you don’t need to be present to win! We appreciate the community’s support to this worthy cause.
Please note that when purchasing online, the Zeffy platform will add some fees that can be zeroed out.
Here is the link to purchase tickets online: https://www.zeffy.com/…/jaxmqg-quiltfest-opportunity.
Quiltfest: It seems like JAXMGQ is going to have another strong showing of quilts at this year’s Quiltfest! If you registered quilts, turn in is September 6. See our QuiltFest page or the QuiltFest website for more information on all things QuiltFest related.
JaxMQG will have a basket (or more) at the quilter’s walk. The committee has asked members to bring donations of modern-quilting related items at the August meeting.
Education: Our Education committee has been hard at work coming up with a large variety of classes we can choose from for 2027. Voting for your top five will be at the August meeting. Take a look at the choices here.
Community Outreach: Dreams Come True asked the guild for a quilt donation for an auction they’re having in January. If you have one you want to donate, contact Alison.
Quilt Con Community Quilt: Diane had packages of fabric and instructions for making the blocks. If you took a package, return it to the August meeting.
