May 2014 Meeting Highlights

image(6)-tileWe had a productive and fun first meeting at the new location in the South Mandarin Library Branch; twelve members and visitors were in attendance to discuss guild business and programs and share some eye-candy.  Meeting minutes were posted here.

image(24)We had our first Block of the Month (BOM) lottery and lucky Jen won the blocks; they’d make a fabulous quilt, don’t you think? If you missed Ruthee’s post about the wonky log cabin block, click here. Next month’s BOM will be focused on Jackie Gerring’s slash technique. The colors for the June block will be plum and lime green. Instructions will be posted right here on the blog, so stay tuned! The goal of this BOM is to expand our modern quilting horizons by using different modern piecing techniques and solid fabrics to make one block a month. Have fun making the block, bring it to the meeting and your name will be entered for a chance to win all the blocks submitted during that meeting. Just imagine the possibilities of what one can make with the blocks if they win.

A slide show of the wonderful quilts and work in progress shared by members and visitors can be viewed here:image(54)

Information on benefits for joining the MQG can be found here. You get all the benefits of the individual membership plus a local guild.

Happy Quilting and looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday, June 28th.
