The show n tell was very inspiring and a feast for our eyes! Thanks to Adele R. for taking the photos and Laura B for coordinating the member show! Enjoy the photos!

Making CANDY BAGS was the meeting program taught by Adele R. ! There was a lot of sewing, chatting, and laughing as members sewed up the cute candy pouches! Many thanks to Adele for the very fun program!

Kim B. (quilt Mom) unveiled the finished MQG community quilt made by our guild members. The quilt will be on display at JAX Quiltfest and QUILTCON 2024.

Many thanks to Kim for the awesome vision, design and organization and also to each contributing member for a fantastic job. The quilt is fabulous!

Meeting highlights:

New JAXMQG membership feature on website: Sam D. has diligently worked behind the scenes to set up a membership section on our website. Each member will receive an email from wordpress to set up a password, profile, and bio. Candi also emailed a video (made by Sam) to assist members with set up. We’ll also assist members at the September meeting if needed. Huge thanks to Sam for all of her efforts on this guild upgrade!

Possible new meeting space! Candi L. announced that a potential new larger meeting location has been proposed by Margaret D.! The meeting space is very close to our current location and is much larger (at the same fee as we pay currently)! Board members plan to visit the meeting space and confirm room and scheduling details soon so stay tuned for more details! Big thanks to Margaret D. for reaching out to her church to find a larger space for our growing guild!

SAVE THE DATE : 9/30/23 10 am – 1pm! Abbey J. has worked with Clay County to reserve Camp Chowenwaw and sponsor our first JAXMQG AIRING OF THE QUILTS community event! Abbey will be sending out details very soon. The park is beautiful with magnificent trees on the Black Creek! The location is accessible for all with shady areas, covered pavilion, picnic tables, playground, and nature trails so it is absolutely perfect for a family friendly community event. If you would like to help with this event please let Abbey know! Many thanks to Abbey for her creative ideas and efforts to create a fun community guild event!

QUILTFEST proposal : Candi led the guild in a discussion on the JAX Quiltfest proposal for JAXMQG to join the area sister guilds that coordinate and sponsor the annual show. The details of the proposal and benefits were explained along with expectation that guild needs to support the show by volunteering. There are many ways to volunteer such as board members, committee members, pre show activities (judging support and quilt hanging), and a variety of activities on show days. Volunteer hours can range depending on member availability/interest/ability. Candi suggested members volunteer for a shift at the upcoming 2023 show. A survey will be sent out to members for voting on the proposal! Thanks to Candi for presenting the proposal details and to Sarah S. for volunteering to handle the voting survey.
