The July meeting was joyful and energetic with a full house, interesting demo, amazing show and tell, and fun surprises! We had 46 members in attendance and excited to have 3 visitors: Leslie B., Esther G., and Kellirae B.A.! We are happy to have 3 new members! BIG Welcome to Margie R., Brenda H., and LaWanda C. BIG THANKS to Robbin N. for her generosity! Robbin brought in lots of surprises to share with our members. Jan L. won drawing for one of Robbin’s adorable willie nillie dolls! Several members won packs of fabric and fabric tags! She also brought in patriotic fabrics to give to our Quilt of Valor quilters! Everyone enjoyed the surprises!
Robbie K. provided a fun and organized demo on her SEA GLASS projects. She showed many ideas including sample fabrics, batting, sewing and project options. Robbie brought in selection of super cute fabrics to share with members! Hopefully we will see some fun member projects at future meetings. THANKS ROBBIE for your time and generosity!

2024 workshop announcement : Melsenia B. spoke about the 2024 workshop schedule and Christina F. handed out flyers to members so they can be sure to mark their calendars! The flyer is posted on the JAXMQG members only FB page and also posted on website
Misc fabric / anything goes 12.5 inch block challenge initiated by Jennifer R. is due at the August meeting!
A new Challenge Maximalism Mini Quilt was announced by Donna T. The size should be 24 x 24 and is due in October (members will keep their own mini). Check upcoming newsletter for more details. You can also check on the MQG site for Maximalism concepts in Modern Quilting ideas! If you want to swap strip sets for your mini quilt then bring them to the August meeting!
Kim B. reported that the MQG Community Outreach quilt is ready for quilting and Diane S. has generously volunteered to longarm the quilt! The quilt is stunning but we are holding off on photos for the final reveal! Thanks to Kim B. for all her work as Quilt Mom and everyone that has helped with sewing!
Franci S. provided a hand out with retreat details to those attending the JAXMQG retreat (8/31 – 9/3). If you are attending but didn’t get an flyer please contact Franci!
