JAXMQG June summer Teacups & TaTas party!

The guild had a blast kicking off Summer 2023 at our June party. 43 members attended and we welcomed visitor Margie P.! We are super excited to announce several new members joined the guild: Carla B., Erica D., Ruthanne W., and Carol P.

All enjoyed yummy lunch of pizza, lemonade and ice cream! The party decor was pretty in pink with flowers and smiley faces everywhere! We had a table full of adorable member made pin cusions! Everyone had fun selecting their pin cushions and now have the perfect party memento!

There was a lot of socializing and epic game playing!

Deb B. was excited to be the big winner of our L R C game! We can’t wait to see what wonderful project she makes with the load of amazing fat quarters she won!

Laura B. won a fat quarter bundle for having the lucky sticker behind her flower pin! She definitely likes that bundle!

Ta-Tas !!! Members made 50+ PINK paper pieced bra blocks that will be made into a future MD Anderson charity quilt!!!

Huge THANKS to our spectacular party planning team : Franci S., Abbey J., Christina F., Eve V., Diane S., and Laura B. We appreciate all of their efforts throwing a fantastic party!

As always the June Show ‘n Tell was full of color and inspiration!   Thanks to Adele R. and Abbey J. for the great photos and Gail W. for being show coordinator!

Meeting update & Announcements:

  • MQG 2024 Community Outreach Quilt:  Kim B. is our awesome Quilt Mom!   She has designed the quilt AND prepared block kits. Members are encouraged to come sew blocks at our next group sew day on July 15. There are 2 locations scheduled and sewing starts at 10am : Pablo Creek Library or Mandarin Branch (Kori Road). Check your email from Candi for all the details from Kim!
  • Jennifer R. handed out miscellaneous fabrics with a challenge for members to make 12.5 inch anything goes block(s)! Have fun and bring finished blocks to the August meeting!
  • Thanks to Candi and Diane our guild group fund raiser quilt is finished and it is stunning! The quilt is already registered for Jax Quiltfest 2023 in the group category! The quilt will also be submitted in the group category for QuiltCon 2024! Eventually the quilt will be used as a fund raiser. Very exciting!

Upcoming events:

The next JAXMQG meeting is JULY 30! Robbie K. will be presenting a program /demo for the SEA GLASS technique! Look for all the details in the July newsletter that will be emailed from Candi!
