At the May meeting Lisa Schreck Quilt Judge – Candidate, NACQJ Certification Program delivered a very informative lecture on her quilt judging journey, as well as, the judging process, tips, and considerations! Thanks, Lisa, for the great program full of tips and insight!
38 members and 2 visitors attended the May meeting. A warm welcome to visitors Karen P. and Carla B!! We are excited to have Linda S. join the guild and share her stunning quilt that was accepted and shown at both the AQS 2023 Daytona and Paducah quilt shows!
The Show ‘n Share from our guild members was absolutely a-MAY-zing!! We have very productive and incredibly talented members! Thanks to Adele R. and Abbey J. for the photos and Laura B. for being show coordinator!
Meeting update & Announcements:
- The JAXMQG Summer party is JUNE 25 and the theme is TEACUPS & TATAs! Thanks to Franci, Christina, Eve, and Laura for planning the party! Below are key details so we are prepared for the June party:
- Fun & Games! (Christina F.)- Left/Right/Center game will be played. To play members need to bring 3 solid (or reads as solid) fat quarters – ONE each in CHARTREUSE, TURQUOISE, and LIGHT TURQUOISE! There will be two other games but they will be a surprise!
- Charity quilt for MD Anderson Cancer Center (Laura B.) will be super cute paper pieced bra blocks!! Please use only PINK fabric for the bra and only neutral/low volume fabric for the background! Laura handed out the pp pattern.
- Teacup pin cushion Swap (Eve V.). Make one get one!! Eve showed us several cute teacup/mug pin cushions she has made along with a DIY demo! Written instructions were also provided and will be included in the upcoming newsletter!
BYOT / Bring your own t-shirt! Candi is coordinating a JAXMQG t-shirt order that allows members to provide their own t-shirts. Stayed tune for more details!
MQG 2024 Community Outreach Quilt: Kim B. has volunteered to be the Quilt Mom for our quilt! She has a great design in mind with blocks that can be sewn by all levels. Keep an eye out for more information soon! Thanks Kim!
Meeting Winners:
We played a lively FAT QUARTER TOSS game (hosted by Angie W.)! It was a strong competition but in the end Symone W. won the fat quarter bounty with her precision tossing skill! We had a great time and certainly saw a different side of our members!!

Joan D. was excited to have the winning raffle ticket for the long arm services generously donated by Jennifer R. Many THANKS to Jennifer for the donation and great idea for a fundraiser! We raised $205 for the guild!!!
Adele R. won the 50/50 drawing and Dawn K. won the meeting door prize!

Friendly reminder!
Our sweet member Margaret P. will gladly accept unwanted frosting from your cupcakes! She is quite serious about her frosting requests… at the meeting she placed an ‘unwanted frosting‘ note with plate next to the cupcakes!
