April Meeting Recap and a Sit ‘n Sew!

Thanks to all who attended our April meeting at the new location!  It was a great turnout and a lot of fun.  Here’s a recap for those of you who weren’t able to attend.

We made over $300 at our booth at The Maker’s Faire at the MOSH, all of which was profit since our booth was FREE!  Feedback from the Faire showed the community has a real interest in learning to quilt.  This could possibly lead us to holding a “Quilting 101” class at the Pablo Creek Library in the future.  It would be a great way to increase our membership and share our art with the community!

We also discussed possibly doing a community quilt project in the Fall at The Makery.  This is a different event from the Maker’s Faire.  It is held in the Spring and Fall and brings small maker’s together to sell their goods.  Attendance to this event is very high and would be a great place to get the community involved in some sort of quilt project that we can later donate.  Again, nothing set in stone, just ideas!

Yvonne then discussed the kitty blocks she and other guild members put together for #emmasplan.  The quilt was assembled and sent to @christypugh who lost her very young daughter to the flu earlier this year.  Christy was trying to make quilts for all the children in her daughter’s class and Yvonne decided to help out!  fullsizeoutput_35de

Finally, we discussed Quiltcon 2019 in Nashville!  The Quiltcon Charity Quilt palette and theme have been chosen.  Check it out here:

The theme this year is “Small Pieces” and we will start discussing this further in the next couple of months.  If you are planning on attending Quiltcon next year, start making your plans NOW.  Registration for Quiltcon usually opens up in June. Hotel rooms are going fast and we don’t want anyone to miss out on all the fun!
