We had our October meeting on the 25th with 9 members in attendance. Click here to review the meeting minutes.
Our members yet again showed their creativity making the October BOM blocks in orange and gray. Symone was the lucky winner! Don’t you think the blocks turned out beautiful?
Four of our members also brought in their quilts and work in progress tops for the Quilt Your Style Challenge, which has been extended to the November meeting to allow more members to participate.
Jen made this beautiful little quilt made in her favorite color and pieced using her favorite improv style. ( Jen is doing a workshop to show her improv technique after the November meeting; more information to follow). Check out the awesome back too!
Billie made a beautiful floral art quilt that she was still hand quilting.
Robin made an adorable birds on a wire top, check out the colorful bird upside down!
Candi made a small geometric quilt with curves and wonkiness,
In addition to the challenge quilts. Jen brought in the two quilts that she had entered into QuiltFest. Check out the creative backs on these quilts.
Billie brought some of her creative pin cushions and ornaments, as well as an art spider quilt.
Valerie suggested starting a members’ library, where a list of books/patterns/rulers that can be loaned is compiled and members can borrow media for a particular time period. If you have some items that you want included in the library, please submit a list to Val either by e-mailing us or at the next meeting.
Some of the exciting upcoming happenings at our guild include Jen’s improv workshop after the November meeting and our Christmas party on 12/13. Stay tuned for further information about both of these events. Hard to believe that 2014 is almost over, but it sure is, and we are looking for ideas and suggestions for new programs/workshops that you are interested in learning in 2015. If you have any suggestions, please e-mail us.
Our next meeting will be held on November 22nd at 10 a.m at the South Mandarin Library. See you all then.
