Our first meeting of 2014 began with warm welcomes from returning members and visitors alike!
We started the meeting with introductions from all followed by our show and tell. Feel free to browse our photo gallery for the many fantastic projects.
Free Motion Quilting Project
Candi Lennox announced the formation of our new Free Motion Quilting Project. Each month a guild member will teach a free motion pattern or style of their choice to other members. Candi will spearhead this project and will be teaching the first class, the basics of free motion quilting, at our February meeting. A list of required tools (sewing machine, fabric sandwich, etc.) will be provided prior to each class.
Keep an eye out for updates!
“Fold It – Rip It – Drop It – Pass It” Challenge Projects Deadline
There was a friendly reminder to bring your completed projects from the November challenge to the February 15 meeting for show and tell. As a reminder, you may make whatever you like as long as each fabric received from the swap must be used in your project. You can supplement these fabrics with any solid color fabric.
Membership in the Modern Quilt Guild
Angela Williams began discussion on beginning the process of officially joining the Modern Quilt Guild. Please review the meeting minutes for the specifics.
Alternate Meeting Dates/Locations
A suggestion was made for us to have a regular monthly sewing day at Country Crossroads (preferably after our monthly meeting). If anyone is interested in attending, please let us know at the next meeting so that Lynn can reserve the room for our use.
There was also a suggestion to schedule a meeting/sew day once a month or quarterly at an alternate location for those unable to attend on our regular meeting dates. If you are interested in meeting on an alternative day or location, please let us know of your proposed days and locations at our February meeting.
That’s the recap for January’s meeting! Our next meeting will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 beginning at 10:30 am at Country Crossroads.
We’ll see you there!
