Here we are approaching the end of 2013! It has been a wonderful year for the Jax Modern Quilt Guild, we continue to grow and hopefully 2014 will be a better year yet.
We had twelve members and visitors for the November meeting at Country Crossroads and everyone came armed with beautiful show and tell.
Robin brought a completed quilt for Boston that she pieced and her friend quilted.
Candi brought in her take on the NYC MQG Double Wedding Ring Challenge.
Candi also brought some paper-pieced hexagon blocks as well as snowmen mug rugs that she was working on.
Anne brought in a beautiful quilt that she made of modern prints and linen.
Lisa showed us a T-shirt quilt that she finished for her niece. Purple!
Angie brought the awesome quilt she entered into the Jax Quiltfest. Yay, we could touch it:)
Lora showed us the reader cover she made. Very cool.
And our hostess with the mostess, Lynn, modeled the hat a friend made her for the Jags games as well as the shirt she made Bob. Fancy!
Leah showed us the beautiful patchwork heart she was working on.
Our visitors brought some eye candy to share as well. Cristi brought in a modern Maple Leaves quilt that she made out of batiks and words fabrics as well as little holiday quilts.
Marie and Sarah shared with us a completed diamonds quilt (with soft flannel backing) and a top they were quilting. Beautiful.
Once our show and tell was concluded. We attempted the “Fold It – Snip It – Rip It – Drop It – Pass It” Challenge and after the second try we triumphed and each went home with six pieces that we are to use to make something ( with only adding one solid color of our choice) and bring it to the February meeting. That concluded our November meeting.
And to be festive for the December meeting, we decided to meet for breakfast at Metro Diner. Candi, Lynn, Lisa, Robin and Mary attended. We had a great time and the ornament exchange was fun. We each brought an ornament wrapped in a FQ, assigned a number to each gift and we each drew a number. Miraculously, no one drew the number of their ornament so we were all happy campers:) I think we were all too hungry that we forgot to take pictures of the actual ornament, opps. Take my word for it, they were nice!
Don’t forget we meet on the third Saturday of the month at 10:30 am at Country Crossroads in Orange Park. Looking forward to see you there.
Merry Christmas, happy holidays and an awesome 2014 to one and all.
